New Year 2005 — Wishes and Preparations

RE: Time Of Your Life — Anthony Robbins

I am feeling a bit guilty that I am not writing daily as I had gotten used to, but I see that many are on hiatus for the holidays and I am taking this time to prepare myself for the upcoming year.

I have two days/sessions left to do of the ten-day Anthony Robbins “Time Of Your Life” time management program. The concept is excellent, but this one has given me a bit more trouble than the two others I completed. But, I AM worth the effort and that is keeping me motivated.

Although I started over a million times as I could not get past tape 4, I promised myself I WOULD complete this before the ball drops in NYC ringing in 2005. (I start Day #9 later on today!)

On the other hand, I do believe I will have to go through the program yet again, but... I will go through in a stronger — happier, more productive — frame of mind and position! After all I AM worth it, or did I say that before! You see... I have to keep telling myself this in order to get through. I can honestly say though... “it IS worth every bit of effort I am putting in to it. Tony keeps saying that the assignment exercises take about 5-10 minutes, but I am “still” writing about an hour later. Why? I am brutally honest with myself! IF I can't be honest with myself, who can I be honest with?

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, Safe and Prosperous New Year 2005.

Roz's 2004 Favorites...

Stay tuned for my 2004 favorites!

I consider myself blessed to have been able to form lasting personal and business relationships within my focus area — web and graphic development. It's been my privilege and I would like to formerly say “thank you!”

As well... Things started to look up when:

  • I changed the way I access the Internet
  • I got rid of my second phone (the computer phone), and
  • I changed my telephone service provider!
Who would have believed that all of this would have changed my life so much, when I... “discovered the world of TeleSeminars!”

My short list of favorites will be posted before the end of the year!

Seasonal eCards...

For those of you who know me personally, you know that my passion is designing eCards and graphics.

Eye Candy: Nature (a great gift)

PERSONAL TESTIMONIAL: This is a really fun package. I was privileged to be on the beta team and was able to play while giving feedback! The possibilities are absolutely endless!

In my opinion Alien Skin has done it again with their new Eye Candy 5 filter package: Eye Candy 5: Nature.

This package could not have come out at a better time with the “Holiday Season” upon us. Below is the Alien Skin Official Press Release.

30-Day Demo (full functioning)
Pricing: $99.00
Upgrade Pricing: $49.00 (eligibility - owning another Alien Skin Product)

For release 12/7/2004
Alien Skin Software Ships Eye Candy 5: Nature

Raleigh, NC (December 7, 2004) — Alien Skin Software today announced the release of Eye Candy® 5: Nature (Nature), a set of 10 plug-in filters for Adobe® Photoshop®, Adobe Photoshop Elements®, Jasc® Paint Shop Pro™ and Macromedia® Fireworks®. Nature simulates a variety of phenomena, including fire, smoke, rust, snow, ice and more. The second of a three-part upgrade to Eye Candy 4000, Nature features four all-new filters and six reincarnated Eye Candy classics. Graphic designers, digital photographers and Web or multimedia content creators will appreciate Nature’s versatile and beautifully rendered effects. Corona creates radiant solar flares, organic gradient glows, and wispy auroras.

  • Drip melts images, melding colors and rendering oozing drops that drip from selections.
  • Fire ignites artwork, creating any incendiary effect from blue flames to white-hot rocket exhaust.
  • Icicles drips translucent icicles from any selection and works great with Snow Drift. (New)
  • Ripples creates refractive ripples around any shape, as well as chaotic reflective waves. (New)
  • Rust tarnishes and corrodes images and text with rust, moss and mold. (New)
  • Smoke simulates anything from voluminous clouds of smoke to murky haze.
  • Snow Drift piles snow on text and lightly dusts images with surface snow or frost. (New)
  • Squint mimics poor or wet vision or camera work, defocuses images and adds highlights and halos.
  • Water Drops splashes images with a variety of drops, spurts, spills and more.
Version 5 refines the features of previous Eye Candy versions, simplifying usage and supporting the latest digital imaging innovations. Nature uses familiar keyboard shortcuts and is scriptable in Photoshop using actions.

Presets provide over 500 quick and easy effects for rushed designers and complete novices, and an improved settings management system makes it easier to browse, share and add new presets. Nature works with 16-bit images; color transitions are smoother, with less banding, and print documents reproduce colors more accurately.

Unlimited undo and redo speeds the process of selecting the right effect, while context-sensitive online help prevents perplexity.

Nature is the second of three Eye Candy 5 plug-in collections. The first upgrade, Eye Candy 5: Textures was released in 2004 and produces a wide variety of seamless, texture effects, including snake and lizard skin, fur, brick, stone and wood.

The final upgrade, Eye Candy 5: Impact, will be released in 2005. Impact will include the graphic design effects that made Alien Skin Software famous. For those who want chrome, bevels, shadows and other classic effects now, Eye Candy 4000 remains available.

Pricing and Availability: The estimated street price for Nature is $99. Registered users of other Alien Skin Software products receive discount pricing when ordering direct. Online delivery is available at the Alien Skin Web site: http://www.alienskin.com. Nature is also available worldwide through stores, catalogs and resellers.

Host Requirements: Nature is a plug-in; it must be used with one of the following: Adobe Photoshop 7 or later, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 or later, Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004 or later or Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 or later.

System Requirements: Windows users must have at least a 1 GHz Pentium III processor, 256 MB RAM and Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Macintosh users must have at least a 500 MHz PowerPC G3 processor, 256 MB RAM and Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later.

REVIEW: Emotionally Connected Websites - Revisited...

I just attended a fantastic teleseminar hosted by AnnieJenningsPR.com.

Annie's guest was Philippa Gamse, who is a consultant and professional speaker on eBusiness and Website strategy. She helps companies, small businesses and nonprofit organizations to maximize their return on investment in their Internet presence. She is a Certified Management Consultant, a designation earned by less than one percent of professionals.

While using teleseminar attendees websites as models, Philippa gave a smashing rundown of the features needed to emotionally connect with your visitors from the first moment they arrive at your web site.

This seminar was geared to everyone and anyone who either has a web presence or is thinking of creating one. Her tips and insights were right-on-the-money, invaluable and fun. Philippa has a knack of saying what is right and explaining why — all the time in a non-offending manner.

It was so fun that the hour sped by without notice. I made sure I did *70 before dialing up to ensure not being interrupted.

Philippa Gamse is absolutely a gem and a very intriguing, entertaining lady. As she spoke and showed us example web sites, I furiously wrote and took notes for my own web site's enhancement.

Philippa thank you! You are great! My only regret was that I was not one of the chosen few to have been privileged with your expertise and evaluation. But, it's never too late, you can visit my site at:
http://www.GraphicsSchmaphicsExclusive.com

In my opinion Philippa Gamse is one of Annie's most interesting guests. I have attended three of her seminars to date and plan on attending as many more as I am available for. I repeat... “If you are already on the web or are thinking of making a debut, Philippa Gamse is a lady “not to be missed!”

Lynda.com — Do they ever sleep?

I've been a fan of Lynda Weinman / Lynda.com for many years now. A few years ago I was privileged to have attended a number of her events here in NYC and got to meet Lynda and some of her crew. It was great fun after only communicating via email and phone. Lynda is a class act and anything she has a hand in is top-of-the-line! If you go to any of her events you will see what I mean.

As well... I have reviewed a number of Lynda.com learning Videos/CDs and books. For me... “visual” learning has always been the best way to go. I remember taking an on-line class awhile back and I was just too tired to read the lessons. I popped in the Lynda.com CD I had on the same subject (Flash 5) and before I knew it I was working along with the CD and wide awake. Besides with a CD you can repeat and repeat and repeat until you get it, and then there is always the brushup!

On the other hand there are the Lynda.com Hands-On-Training (HOT) books. These books are not only fat and juicy, but come with their own CD of video lessons. I would say this is the best of both worlds!

I remember a number of times leafing through the books and just itching to get to the computer to try out the exercises.

What prompted me to write about Lynda.com today was the fact that I just happened over there after a recommendation from one of my Photo-Haven members when I asked a particular question. Knowing her work I went without question to have a look. I could not believe the library of Learning CDs she has available these days. I wonder if they gave up sleeping over there! They have learning Videos/CDs on just about any topic you can think of, even Blogging. Why didn't I know this when I was agonizing — for a year — over learning how to Blog!

The question that I am asking myself is: Have I been away too long or have they just been working harder? Probably a little of both!

Surf on over to Lynda.com and have a look see!

Roz Views / 2004 favorites

So many doors opened for me in 2004, because I was more open to accepting help from wherever it was offered. Some who helped do/did not know me from a whole in the wall! But... I know them and that is all that matters. I would now like to pass it, share and help others.

Stayed tuned for Roz Views / 2004 Favorites.

Can you believe that there are 30 days left until 2005. Another brand new year looms before us. It's exciting to think about!

I took some time off after Thanksgiving to learn all I could about eBay and how to sell and buy. While it is not rocket science to put something up for auction, there is a technique to it and much to know.
